Kumpu (“mound”) sculptures reflect stratifications that arise over time and at times it may happen that the starting point is no longer recognizable. Sometimes the true essence and origin of things is buried or forgotten, both in nature and in people's lives.
From the top of the mounds, a view opens into the partially hollow interior, and the openings serve as peepholes to perhaps the most authentic and essential.
